Music to My Ears
Taking advice on Mass songs. We're having a worship band led by Adam Bitter. Here's one song that's a no brainer, "Hold My Hand"! I've adored it from the minute I heard it! :-)

As far as wedding songs go...I have always absolutely loved "How Beautiful" by Twila Paris (I think?) for the beautiful combination of Eucharistic/Spousal/Evangelization imagery. Of course there's Matt Maher's "Set me as a seal" but I /almost/ feel like that one is overdone...and I've never felt like it fits in Mass very well, even though it is very scriptural.
ReplyDeletemy all-time praise, favorite, not necessarily wedding related but very applicable, is Blessed Be Your Name...with How Deep the Father's Love for Us (Stuart Townsend/Philips Craig & Dean) as a close runner-up
A few more traditional songs that I just love, and would love to see in any wedding, are "Be Thou My Vision" and "Oh God Beyond all praising" (which imho would make an amazing recessional, but kind of requires an organ)
Anyway, just my random thoughts...Blessings!
Wow! Paul-the mind reader-Houser, you have named all of the songs that are on my list!
ReplyDelete:-) Too funny!!! :-) Thanks for the confirmation!
I may be biased, but I think my wedding had the greatest music ever. :D In particular, Arcadelt 4 part Ave Maria, opening cello, and Before You Now - both Eucharistic and romantic! <3, Kara (in Michigan)
